Vista Power Button

When I power off my PC that is what I want to happen. The default power option on Vista when you press the power off button is to sleep. Fortunately this can be changed via the Control Panel.

From Control Panel navigate to Power Options - Change Plan Settings - Change Advanced Power Settings. In this panel you will find an option "Power buttons and Lid". Change both "Power button action" and "Start menu power button action" from Sleep to Shutdown ... and you're done.
